CHOIR STICK MICROPHONE (#CSM-40x, #CSM-60x) GENERAL DESCRIPTION
ACE #CSM-40 and #CSM-60 Series Choir Stick Microphones offer the ultimate performance of an overhead hanging choir mic in a totally portable configuration. The low profile, light weight, black, aluminum, space age alloy Stick mic is available in both 40” and 60” models. The Boom Stick places the microphone element ideally above and over any choir. This versatile Stick microphone mounts on any standard microphone stand with any standard taper-body mic stand clip. It is extremely stable and will not easily tip over. Four (4) Audio-Technica® pick-up pattern choices mean one will be right for your needs. Use the Choir Stick Microphones for children or adult groups on the stage steps, portable risers or anywhere.
The CSM-40 (40” long) and CSM-60 (60” long) Choir Stick Microphone features Audio-Technica®‘s miniature back-plate condenser elements. The elements are then assembled into an ultra light weight aluminum boom shaft (.312” Dia.) for long reach, high performance microphone applications. The aluminum boom shafts are made from #6061 - T6 and have a thickness of .049". Each Stick microphone version is supplied with a Taper-Body Clutch Stand Mount and a U-U Clip ready for use with any standard microphone stand. The Audio-Technica® CSM Mic is a wide range condenser microphone.
The Audio-Technica® series of Stick Mics are available with four interchangeable pick-up elements. Audio-Technica® pick-up elements include Cardioid (120º), Hypercardioid (100º), Omnidirectional (360º), and UniLine (90º). All Choir Stick Mics are designed for quality sound reinforcement, professional recording, television, and other demanding sound pickup situations. The small-diameter gooseneck design permits highly flexible positioning while maintaining a smooth, well contoured appearance. The Ouptput Connection Power Module for the Audio-Technica® Stick microphone is an Integral 3-pin XLRM-type, phased with Phantom Power Requirements of 9-52V dc, 2.0mA typical and an Output Impeadance EIA rated at 200 ohms.

CONNECTORS |
 |
|
 |
| CONNECTRIX |
Stock CONNECTRIX CONNECTORS utilize Neutrik® “D” mounting hole pattern for greater flexibility.
Stock CONNECTRIX System Connectors may be used in any stock CONNECTRIX System Panel(s). Utilizing the popular mounting pattern of Neutrik® “D” Series connectors with a generous rectangular cutout produces a growing array of adapter-mounted CONNECTRIX connectors. The adapter mount is plastic and provides ground isolation between the panel and connector. The current selection of stock CONNECTRIX system connectors is constantly changing, so please check out our current product information.
When ordering, please specify connector model number and type of connector as well as panel model number (#MP-100, #PNL-100, #PNL-120, or #PNL-140 Series Panels) the connectors will be loaded into. Connectors are loaded into panels using black, aluminum pop rivets. You may also choose to have your connectors loaded with removable machine screws and locking nuts, for a nominal fee. *NOTE: Specific High Density (HD) and Sub-D pattern connectors will require either 2 or 3 CONNECTRIX Horizontal Spaces or 2 or 3 CONNECTRIX Vertical Spaces, depending on connectors selected.

INSTALLATION |

GENERAL INSTALLATION OF CHOIR STICK MICROPHONES (#CSM)
Ace Backstage Co.’s Choir Stick Microphone is a wide-range miniature condenser microphone designed for quality sound reinforcement, professional recording, television, and other demanding sound pickup applications. It requires 9V to 52 V DC from an external phantom power supply (usually provided by the mixer). A recessed switch on the power module permits the choice of flat response or low frequency roll-off to help control undesired ambient noise. Four interchangeable Audio-Technica® elements (Cardioid, Hypercardioid, Omnidirectional, and UniLine) are available to permit selection of angle acceptance from 90° to 360°.
AUDIO-TECHNICA® HYPERCARDIOID ELEMENT CHOIR STICK MIC CONFIGURATION AND INSTALLATION (#CSM-40H and #CSM-60H)

FIGURE 1 - Vertical Positioning of Hypercardioid Element
FIGURE 2 - Horizontal Spacing of Hypercardioid Element
Note: Figures 1 and 2 assume that the element in place is a Hypercardioid element (100°). The combination of small size and excellent response makes the Choir Stick Microphone ideal for choirs, instrumental groups, or theater stages. A uniform 100° angle of acceptance from the Hypercardioid element provides well-balanced audio pick-up. The microphone should be located forward of the front-most source (12”) and above the rear most source (approximately 88”), and “aimed” between them (Figure 1). Increasing the height of the mic above the sources will tend to equalize the sound levels between them, but may also increase the background/reverberant sound pickup. Whenever possible, the distance from the mic to the rear-most pickup should be no more than twice the distance to the front source, to maintain front-to-rear balance (Figure 1). Width of the pickup is approximately 2.5 times the distance to the closest performer.
If additional mics are needed for wide sources, they should not be closer together laterally than 2.5 times the distance to the front source, to avoid phase cancellation (Figure 2). This typical spacing is approximately 4 feet apart. To orient the mic element in the proper direction, bend the “gooseneck” housing until the desired location is found. Note: All Audio-Technica® elements will have somewhat different configurations depending on the element(s) being used. With the exception of the MicroLine Element (90°), all element configurations will have broader coverage patterns, leading to variations in the Distance “X”, the angle of acceptance (element polar patterns), and so on. Since applications may vary, please use this spec sheet as a guide. All drawings and measurements are for reference only.
