POLYURETHANE ENCAPSULATED DOUBLE DEEP BACK BOXES (#DDBBXW) GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Polyurethane encapsulated back boxes are available to provide extra protection from incursion of moisture and water by sealing seams, knock-outs, and holes. Using our double deep, double zinc plated back boxes (DDBBXW), a 1/16” thick jacket of polyurethane is applied to the exterior sides and bottom of the back boxes, permanently bonding with surfaces to form a moisture resistant seal. The polyurethane back box provides protection against harsh climate, chemicals, impact and abrasion. All polyurethane back boxes will have a model number suffix of "W".
ACE Double Deep Back Boxes (#102DDBBXW and #104DDBBXW) are (as the name implies) twice as deep (12”) as Standard #BBX Series Back Boxes (6”) and may be used exclusively with ACE Full and Double Wide Stage Pockets. The #102DDBBXW and #104DDBBXW Double Deep Back Boxes are welded 14 gauge steel with a protective cover that is discarded when the pocket body is finally installed. The box and cover have a clear zinc corrosion resistant finish. A 1/2” mounting flange is predrilled to mate with the pocket body flange. The pocket body assembly is 4.5” deep and the back box is 12” deep providing an extra-large 7.5” work clearance in the bottom of the back box (ideal for feed thru or distribution junction).
The clearance volume (volume between bottom of pocket body and bottom of the double deep back box) is 722 cubic inches in the #102DDBBXW and 1308 cubic inches in the #104DDBBXW. ACE Polyurethane encapsulated Double Deep Back Boxes come with standard Electrical Conduit Combination 1/2”, 3/4”, 1”, and 1-1/4” Knock Outs, 4 places typical on opposing sides and Electrical Conduit Combination 1/2” and 3/4” Knock Outs, 2 places typical on opposing sides.

Stock "CONNECTRIX" CONNECTORS utilize Neutrik® “D” mounting hole pattern for greater flexibility.
Stock “CONNECTRIX” System Connectors may be used in any stock “CONNECTRIX” System Panel(s). Utilizing the popular mounting pattern of Neutrik® “D” Series connectors with a generous rectangular cutout produces a growing array of adapter-mounted “CONNECTRIX” connectors. The adapter mount is plastic and provides ground isolation between the panel and connector. The current selection of stock “CONNECTRIX” system connectors is constantly changing, so please check out our current product information.
When ordering, please specify connector model number and type of connector as well as panel model number (#MP-100, #PNL-100, #PNL-120, or #PNL-140 Series Panels) the connectors will be loaded into. Connectors are loaded into panels using black, aluminum pop rivets. You may also choose to have your connectors loaded with removable machine screws and locking nuts, for a nominal fee. *NOTE: Specific High Density (HD) and Sub-D pattern connectors will require either 2 or 3 “CONNECTRIX” Horizontal Spaces or 2 or 3 “CONNECTRIX” Vertical Spaces, depending on connectors selected.

GENERAL INSTALLATION OF BACK BOXES (#DDBBXW)
The #102DDBBXW and #104DDBBXW Back Boxes are designed exclusively for use with ACE Full and Double Wide Stage Pockets, respectively. Set the double deep back box securely braced into the floor to provide support equal to the floor loading requirements, accounting for any height offset required for the finished floor. Standard electrical conduit may be connected to the back box on any side via combination knock-outs. The protective cover is discarded when the finished pocket is installed. Mating screw holes are provided to secure the pocket flange to the back box flange.

MOISTURE PROTECTION: ACE polyurethane encapsulated back boxes are made from our standard double deep, double zinc plated back boxes (DDBBX). A 1/16” thick jacket of polyurethane is applied to the exterior sides and bottom of the Back Boxes. The polyurethane encapsulates and permanently bonds with the back box surfaces providing protection against the harsh climate, chemicals, accidental impacts, and abrasions.
CLEARANCE VOLUME: Standard Stage Pocket body assemblies are 4.5" deep while the Double Deep Back Box is 12" deep providing 7.5" work clearance in the bottom of the Double Deep Back Boxes, making them ideal for feed thru or distribution junctions. Clearance volumes for individual Pocket/Double Deep Back Box assemblies are as follows:

EASY INSTALLATION: ACE polyurethane encapsulated Double Deep Back Boxes are easily installed into the floor or stage in a few steps. First make the cutout in the floor/stage. Second, securely brace the Back Box into the floor and be sure to provide support equal to the floor loading requirements, accounting for any height offset required for the finished floor. Third, attach any standard electrical conduit to the back box on any side via the combination knock outs. Fourth, secure Stage Pocket to Back Box using mating screw holes provided on the Stage Pocket flange and the Back Box flange.
DURABLE FINISH: ACE Back Boxes have a clear zinc corrosion resistant finish (before applying the Polyurethane Encapsulation).
ELECTRICAL KNOCKOUTS: ACE Standard Double Deep Back Boxes come with standard Electrical Conduit Combination Knockouts. 1/2", 3/4", 1", and 1-1/4" Knock Outs 4 places typical on opposing sides. 1/2" and 3/4" Knock Outs 2 places typical on opposing sides.
PROTECTIVE COVER: Included with the polyurethane encapsulated Double Deep Back Box(es) is a protective cover with a clear zinc corrosion resistant finish. This cover maintains a clean Back Box until the pocket is finally installed. The protective cover may be discarded after the pocket has been installed. |
